1. Introduction

Welcome to Openloft. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience when using our applications and tools. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard the personal information you provide to us through the Openloft Dashboard and associated services.

By accessing or using our services, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree with any terms of this policy, please do not access our services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you directly provide to us, information collected automatically, and information from third-party services like Clerk and Google.

A. Personal Information You Provide

When you sign up or contact us, we may collect your email address, first name, last name, and any messages or feedback you send.

B. Automatically Collected Information

We collect information about your device, browser type, operating system, IP address, referral URLs, and pages visited on our site. This helps us optimize performance and security.

C. Identity Providers (Authentication)

We use Clerk and Google OAuth to manage user authentication. When you sign in with Google, they provide us with a secure token, your primary email address, your name, and your profile picture.

3. Google User Data Policy

Important Information for Google OAuth Users

Openloft uses Google OAuth to authenticate users securely. We request access to standard profile scopes: email, profile, and openid.

We handle Google user data in strict compliance with the following principles:

  • Data Collection: We only store your email address, name, and profile image URL to provision your account and display your profile details in the sidebar.
  • Limited Use Compliance: Openloft's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
  • No Data Sharing: We do not transfer or sell Google user data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or tracking purposes.
  • Data Retention: Google user profile details are retained only as long as your Openloft account remains active. If you delete your account, this data is instantly and permanently deleted from our databases.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To set up and manage your user account.
  • To provide, personalize, and improve our services.
  • To monitor, analyze, and optimize application performance and security.
  • To communicate with you regarding updates, announcements, or support requests.
  • To enforce our terms and comply with applicable legal obligations.

5. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information under the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party providers who help us run our app (e.g. Clerk for authentication, Vercel for hosting, MongoDB for storage). These providers are legally bound to protect your data.
  • Legal Compliance: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority to investigate or prevent illegal activities.
  • Business Transfer: In connection with any merger, sale of assets, or acquisition of Openloft, your data may be transferred as a business asset.

6. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard administrative, physical, and electronic security measures to safeguard your personal data against unauthorized access, alterations, or destruction. However, please remember that no method of transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure.

We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to provide the services you have requested, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience. Cookies are small files stored on your device that help remember preference details.

We use essential cookies via Clerk to manage session status and keep you logged in. We also use analytics tools (such as Vercel Analytics) which collect anonymized performance and traffic stats. You can control or refuse cookies through your browser settings, but some features of Openloft may not function properly as a result.

8. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • The right to request access to and a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • The right to request rectification of inaccurate profile data.
  • The right to request deletion of your account and personal data.
